Interview
I find it super exciting to create a musical mood, a sonic atmosphere with other people, in which each musician plays their part. For me, it depends less on technical know-how and more on the presence and willingness of the musician to engage in a mutual musical dialog.
What do you like about leading the workshop?
Following a process and enabling people to create and realize something creative together.
What do you pay attention to when leading the workshop?
That everyone can bring in their own input, their own musical personality and that there is enough music being made at each workshop, as light-hearted and relaxed as possible.
What instruments do you play?
Drums, percussion, piano, electric/guitar, electric bass.
What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?
When I played with the band Voix du Bois at a festival, some Sabar drummers joined us on stage during the last song and jammed with us. It created a wonderful musical dialog and the audience went wild. I find it very electrifying when the audience dances. Then all the energy you put into a concert comes straight back to you and as a drummer you know you've done everything right.
What else is important to you in your life besides music?
Besides music, my health, my family and my friends are important to me. I like to relax in nature and go surfing in the summer.
