Interview

How did you get to the piano?

Mother says I was a dancer before I could walk
She says I began to sing long before I could talk
And I've often wondered, how did it all start?
Who found out that nothing can capture a heart like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, I'm a fan

What fascinates you about the piano?

1 piano, 100 different brilliant pianists, 100 different worlds they invite us into. Isn't that fascinating? Thanks to the possibility to play several notes at the same time, endless possibilities open up to you and at the same time, in my opinion, the easiest way to learn harmony is on the piano. As a music producer, the piano is also my most faithful companion (especially as a midi keyboard for on the road.

What is crucial for you when practicing?

The right piano teacher. I hated piano lessons for a while. A strong word, but it's true. So much so that I didn't play for a few years. Until one day the right piano teacher came around the corner and showed me that piano lessons can actually be fun. At that moment I promised myself: I will teach and my lessons will be just like that. Effective, entertaining and individually tailored to the interests of my students.

What do you pay particular attention to when teaching?

The individual balance between fun and technique for the students:in front of me to find. I have studied Montessori and Waldorf education a lot in the last few years and this shapes my teaching. Especially music lessons for the little instrumentalists benefit greatly when we as teachers take the time to understand how children think, perceive their environment and thus how they learn.

What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?

I love every aspect of making music. From the song idea at 1:30 in the morning that gets you out of bed, to singing 100 harmonies, to playing with other like-minded musicians, to sharing with the audience. Music gives you and brings others so much at the same time.

On which equipment do you prefer to play?

A big grand piano is something special. But I also love my AKAI MPK Mini MK3.

What else is important in your life besides music?

My family, being a mom, traveling and finding peace in everyday life to enjoy every moment.
