Interview
How did you get into singing?
I come from a very musical family and have been singing for as long as I can remember. Even at an early age, I recorded cassettes full of my own songs, sang in a children’s choir, and started taking singing lessons at the age of 11. (I’m now 35 – so I guess I’ve been singing for 35 years). For me, it has always been a way of expression and creativity.
What fascinates you about singing?
What fascinates me most about the voice as an instrument is that it carries all of our emotions, tells our story, and is as unique as no other instrument.
What helped you most when practicing?
What helped me most when practicing was always having great teachers who responded to me individually and supported me in finding and developing my own sound.
What do you focus on most when teaching?
In my lessons, it is very important to me to work on your personal goals so that you can also find your own sound. Breathing technique and vocal training are essential parts of the lessons, enabling you to use your voice flexibly. At the same time, I encourage your creativity, and together we ask: How would you like to interpret this song?
What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?
One of the most beautiful moments for me as a musician is performing an original song in front of an audience for the first time. It is always a very special moment.
Which instrument do you prefer to accompany yourself on?
I accompany myself on the piano or with a backing track so that you can practise optimally on your own at home.
What is important in your life besides music?
Besides music, I love going on adventures, spending time in nature, trying new things, travelling, practising yoga, watching documentaries, or cooking.
