Interview

How did you get into singing?
Even as a child, I sang with my sister while playing and invented our own songs. For me, singing was from the very beginning a natural way to express myself and feel connected to myself. This connection to music has always been there—intuitive and powerful.

What fascinates you about singing?
Singing is something very personal and unique. Every voice has its own timbre and individual character. It is precisely this diversity and expressive power that fascinates me.

What has helped you the most in practicing?
Patience, consistency, and gaining experience. Especially with vocal technique, discipline and routine are needed to continue developing. I also keep a practice journal where I record personal insights and helpful exercises.

What do you pay particular attention to when teaching?
Especially in singing, it is important to address the individual voice. Every student brings different strengths and challenges. That’s why we work both on vocal technique and on interpreting a piece: What does the piece tell? Which words do I emphasize? Where do I place intentional pauses? Which phrases do I sing long or short? I also place great importance on creating a pleasant learning atmosphere, where students can experiment freely and make mistakes without fear.

What has been your best experience as a musician so far?
My best experience was my first concert, where I could arrange my own songs and perform them with a band. Writing your own songs is very personal and also vulnerable, but it brings even more joy to be able to share them with an audience.

Which instrument do you most enjoy accompanying yourself on?
I most enjoy accompanying myself on the piano.

What is important to you in life besides music?
Besides music, family, friends, and my dogs are very important to me. I also love to express myself creatively—for example through painting and designing.
