Interview

How did you get into singing?

Well, maybe singing found me rather than the other way around. Singing is like the body – it sounds, flows, breathes, cleanses, listens, works, all from within.
And so it sings in me – melodies, words, stories, there is simply music. And so I sing.

What fascinates you about singing?

What touches me most about singing is the pure connection it creates. Between people, cultures, body and mind, emotion and expression, heaven and earth. Singing is a true miracle to me.

What has helped you the most when practicing?

Focusing on the body and trusting the human voice. Entering practice with a sense of ease, and allowing myself to feel even the uncomfortable emotions.

What do you pay special attention to when teaching?

For me, teaching is a very intimate, shared journey. As a teacher, I see it as my responsibility to open and hold the space where the student gains access to their inner musicality and perception. From that place, integrated learning is possible – always with plenty of joy and ease in the process.

What has been your most special experience as a musician so far?

Completely losing myself in the realms of improvisation with other musicians.

Which instrument do you most enjoy accompanying on?

I most enjoy accompanying on the piano.

What is important in your life besides music?

Besides music, words are incredibly important to me. Movement, dance, and connection with nature. The joy of human connection. Curiosity about life and personal growth as part of our earthly community. The desire to learn new and unknown things.
