Interview
How did you get to your instrument?
When I was 13 years old, my sister took guitar lessons and out of jealousy I also started guitar lessons. One day, my teacher at the time took a bass with him and I was immediately hooked, so I started playing bass.
What fascinates you about your instrument?
The guitar and bass are so versatile and are actually suitable for all styles of music. From punk and rock to classical music.
What has helped you the most when practising?
Playing along with my favourite songs. In my opinion, you learn the most when you play along with the professionals on the backing track. I also practised a lot with drum loops to achieve better precision when playing.
What do you pay particular attention to when teaching?
It's very important to me that the student plays a lot and always tries new things. This allows the student to train their musical ear and technique at the same time.
What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?
I once played in front of around 5000 people on the beach in Santa Monica, California. I'll never forget that.
On which equipment do you prefer to play?
I play almost exclusively on a Fender Stratocaster and my Fender Jazz Bass.
What else is important in your life besides music?
I enjoy doing sport, meditation, hanging out with friends and cooking. But music is of course number one for me. :-)
